Open to no more than fifteen (15) women, eighteen (18) years of age or over, with domestic duties. Entrants must have a minimum of three (3) months residence at a Liberal or Rural Route Liberal mailing address. Women who are 18 and still enrolled in high school should enter the Youth Division race. Women who are unable to accept a prize of monetary value (cash or merchandise) due to eligibility requirements may only enter the International Race by permission of the Rules Committee.

*All entrants MUST wear traditional housewife attire: dress or skirt and top, an apron and headscarf; (sweats, jeans, or athletic attire may be WORN UNDER the SKIRT). The skillet and the pancake will be furnished by the Race Committee. Please return the skillet to a board member at the finish line or inside the Hall of Fame.

All runners must flip their pancake two (2) times, the first flip to be made before the starting signal, and the second flip after the contestant crosses the finish line; this flip is to show that she still has the pancake in the skillet. If the pancake is dropped at any time, the contestant may pick it up and place it back in the skillet and continue the race. Any assistance from spectators, or any other persons, will automatically disqualify the contestant.

The distance of the race will be 415 yards and is to be run over an “S” shaped course.

The International Pancake Race will start at 11:55am on Shrove Tuesday also known as Pancake Day!

Each contestant must be at the **Faith Tabernacle Church, 514 N. Kansas Ave., no later than 11:00am on Pancake Day.

All entrants agree to attend the Shriving Service immediately following the International Race. The prizes will be given out after the service.

Entrant agrees that in the event she is the winner of the Liberal International Pancake Day Race, she will accept no personal appearances outside of Liberal or run in any other Pancake Race for ONE YEAR subsequent to winning the Liberal International Pancake Race, without first receiving consent and sanction of the International Pancake Day of Liberal, Kansas Inc. Board of Directors.

A woman may win the International Pancake Day race up to three times and then she must ‘retire’.

Each entrant must sign the following agreement on her entry blank:
* It is your responsibility as a contestant in the International Pancake Race to adhere to the above stated attire requirements in order to participate in the race on International Pancake Day.
** Please do not leave your belongings at the church. Have someone there to give them to. The church will be locked after the race starts.
RACERS MUST RETURN THE RACE SKILLET TO A RACE COMMITTEE MEMBER AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE RACE.

2. *All entrants must wear an apron and a head scarf.
BACK TO TRADITION: Men’s Pacer Race runners must carry an adult woman’s coat to the Finish Line. (Does not have to be an international racer’s coat)
3. The distance of the race will be 415 yards and is to run over the “S” shaped International Race Course.
4. The Men’s Pacer Race will be run the morning of Pancake Day at 11:40 a.m.
5. All entrants agree to attend the SHRIVING SERVICE immediately following the INTERNATIONAL PANCAKE RACE.
6. Each contestant must be at the **Faith Tabernacle Church, 514 North Kansas Ave., no later than 11:00am on Pancake Day.
7. Each entrant must sign the following agreement on the entry form:

(2) All entrants must wear an apron and head scarf. The racer must bring their own small skillet. Each racer must bring these three items.
(3) Check-in will be near the racing line up at 4th & Lincoln. Check-in begins at 9:30am. Each racer will receive their race number at this point.
(4) Each racer must be checked in and ready to line up, at the corner of 4th & Lincoln (Equity Bank Drive-In) by 10am.
**** EACH RACER MUST HAVE A RACE NUMBER ON ****
a. do not have their number properly displayed
c. are missing one of the three required items: apron, scarf, skillet
(6) “I hereby agree to conform to and comply with the rules governing this contest and I further agree to hold blameless the INTERNATIONAL PANCAKE DAY of LIBERAL, INC., the RACE COMMITTEE, and others connected with this contest, for any loss or injury to myself and/or my child, or property, in which I, or my child, or property, may become involved by reason of participation in this contest.”
(7) By allowing your child to participate in this race, it is understood that you (parent-legal guardian) will comply & agree with the decision made at the finish line in regard to the assignment of 1st, 2nd & 3rd place, based upon the best judgement of the International Pancake Day Race Committee, & that no exceptions will be made in changing the placements once the event has occurred.
(8) It is understood that I am giving express permission to International Pancake Day of Liberal, Kansas to use photographs of my child for promotional purposes only.
A Mascot: An animal, person or thing adopted by a group, or as a representative symbol and is supposed to bring good luck.

Mascot race will begin immediately after the last kids race.

Race course will be shorter, 75 yards.

Superheroes are not considered as mascots and ineligible to be in the race.

THIS ENTRY FORM MUST BE SIGNED BY CONTESTANT TO BE VALID
(1) Open to no more than 10 mother/daughter duos. Runners are not required to reside in Liberal, KS.
(2) Only age limit for the Mother/Daughter race is that the daughter must be at least 10 y/o on Pancake Day.
(3) Mother or daughter (if over 18) may not also compete in the International Race.
(4) The duo will compete in a relay.
- The daughter will begin at the Finish Line. She will run to her mother, who will be at the Starting Line (near Equity Bank). Daughter must then flip the pancake from her skillet to her mother’s skillet before the mother can begin her race back towards the Finish Line.
- A piece of pancake must be in the pan of the last runner when they cross the Finish Line.
(4) All entrants must wear a dress or skirt, an apron, and a headscarf. The racers must each bring their own small skillet. Each racer must bring these four items.
(6) Each racer must be checked in and ready to line up, at the corner of 4th & Lincoln (Equity Bank Drive-In) by 11am.
(7) A racer is disqualified if they:
- do not have their number properly displayed
- do not show up to their race on time
- are missing one of the four required items: skirt, apron, scarf, skillet
(8) By allowing your child to participate in this race, it is understood that you (parent-legal guardian) will comply & agree with the decision made at the finish line in regard to the assignment of 1st, 2nd & 3rd place, based upon the best judgement of the International Pancake Day Race Committee, & that no exceptions will be made in changing the placements once the event has occurred.
